Description:  Beautiful photo of a Baldwin Southern Railway 4-6-2 Pacific #1409, the last of this class to be built in April of 1928. While serving as passenger power, the 4-6-2 Pacifics wore a Virginia Green paint scheme with gold lettering and stripling as seen in this builder's photo. All brass was highly polished. Specs - serial #60465 renumbered twice in its lifetime - 6482 & 6691, Ps-4 class, 73" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 27x28" cylinders, engine weight of 304,000 lb, tractive effort of 47,535 lb.

Description:  Nice Baldwin built Pacific heading up a passenger train. According to www.steamlocomotives.com webiste, it was this batch of Ps-4's that introduced the Virginia Green paint scheme to the Southern passenger power. All the lettering and striping was lined in gold and the brass and other metals highly polished. The four Washington-Atlanta locomotives bore Crescent Limited on their tenders. No photographer was listed.

Description:  Parked in the Atlanta yard is this 1928 Baldwin built Pacific. by this time, the Virginia green with the gold lettering and striping and bright white walled wheels were showing a layer of road grime after heavy used during the war years. Specifics - 73" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 27x28" cylinders, tractive effort of 47,535 lb, engine weight of 300,000 lb. No photogrpaher listed.
