Good looking photo of the Baldwin 2-8-2 Mikado built in October of 1929 for the Illinois Terminal Co (Illinois Terminal System) as their #31. An unknown photographer caught it while it sat in the Alton, IL yard in 1935. Specs - serial #60925, class 30, 56" drivers, 185 psi boiler pressure, 25x30" cylinders, engine weight of 262,000 lb, tractive effort of 53,608 lb. The loco was sold for scrap in April of 1950 when the ITC converted to diesel-electric motive power. |
