Description:  Here is the front cover of the October 1955 issue of "Pennsy" magazine. The photographer is not identified. Photo Caption: "Harry O. Lindgren, yard conductor, Chicago Division, has been on the Railroad 18 years. A former football player, his is married, has two daughters, and devotes all of his spare time to his family." Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9805, #9573, and another unit whose road number is not recorded. #9805 is an EF-15A built by GM-EMD in March of 1951 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. #9573 is a BF-15 built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in March of 1949, rated at 1,500 horsepower, and retired in December of 1963.

Description:  Here is page one of a two-page article entitled "New Device 'Levels' Mountains." It was published originally in the September 1956 issue of "Pennsy" magazine, page 4. Top Photo Caption: "Freight train unequipped with Pressure Maintaining Valve comes down mountain with brake shoes smoking in winter test." Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9573, a BF-15 built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in March of 1949, rated at 1,500 horsepower, and retired in December of 1963 after just 14 years of revenue service. In this context, it's heading a mixed-cargo freight train around the Horseshoe Curve and down the Allegheny Mountains to Altoona and points East.
