T&P 4-6-2 712
Title:  T&P 4-6-2 712
Description:  Texas & Pacific P-1-b-r class 4-6-2 712 was being serviced at the Texas Pacific-Missouri Pacific Terminal Railroad of New Orleans’ RACE STREET YARD. The loco had been built by Baldwin (61291) in December 1919, and was modernized in October 1940. Some evidence of the upgrading was a complete set of disc drivers, a slanted cab front, an extended turret and a big tender from a retired 2-10-2; but the improvements also included roller bearings on the driver axles, lightweight side rods, multiple-bearing crossheads and a valve pilot. It was retired in February 1953. (approximate date of photo)

The track on this side of the train was the NOPB switching lead, and next to it was a wharf track which served transit sheds along the Mississippi River. On the other side of the train were the NOPB's westbound main and two Illinois Central tracks, along with Tchoupitoulas Street. (approximate month and day)
