PRR 5894, EP-22, 1954
Title:  PRR 5894, EP-22, 1954
Description:  Kern. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Fred Kern that was taken near Marysville, Pennsylvania, on 1 January 1954. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5894 and another unit whose road number is not recorded. Both are EP-22's built by GM-EMD and rated at 2,250 horsepower each. #5894 was constructed during March of 1951. Note the "newer" and "older" paint schemes. This A-A set has just crossed the Rockville Bridge with a 12-car passenger train, and is en route from New York City to Pittsburgh. The slide mount is annotated "Train 25" so, in those days, it was called "The Duquesne."
