Description:  Here is the front cover of the Pennsylvania Railroad's 31-page "Ninety-Ninth Annual Report." It was issued originally on 13 February 1946. Depicted on the bottom (L to R) are three vintage steam locomotives: 1831, 1864, and 1902. At the top is an illustration by Mr. Frank Reilly. Depicted here (L to R) are PRR engines #5900, #5500, #6195, and #4904. #5900 is an EP-20 built by GM-EMD in September of 1945 and rated at 2,000 horsepower. #5500 is a T-1 (4-4-4-4) "Duplex" built in Juniata during November of 1945 and retired in December of 1953. #6195 is a Q-2 (4-4-6-4) built in Juniata during June of 1945 and retired in January of 1956. #4904 is a GG-1 built in Juniata during May of 1940.

These illustrations by Mr. Frank Reilly are the same as those used on the Pennsylvania Railroad Company's 99th Annual Report for the year ending 31 December 1945. The lower illustrations depict (L to R) three vintage steam locomotives: 1831, 1864, and 1902. Shown here is PRR engine #5900 and two other units whose numbers are not visible. All were built by EMD. #5900 is an EP-20 built in 1945 and rated at 2,000 horsepower. They are pulling an eastbound passenger train into the Altoona Station; its platform is visible in the foreground. Incidentally, this was the first "E" Series passenger locomotive purchased and operated by the PRR!

Description:  AHC. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken at the Pennsylvania Railroad's Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, during June of 1965. The photographer is not identified. Shown here (R to L) are PRR engines #5855, an unidentified "B" unit, and #5900. All are EP-20's built by GM-EMD and rated at 2,000 horsepower each. #5855 was built in September of 1947, while #5900 was built in September of 1945. They are pulling a passenger train down the Allegheny Mountains and around the Curve to Altoona and points East.

Description:  Station. Here is an original telephoto view that I took near the Pennsylvania Railroad's Passenger Station in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on the afternoon of 11 December 1965. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engine #5900 and two other units whose numbers are not legible. All were built by EMD. #5900 is an EP-20 built in 1945 and rated at 2,000; it was the first EMD passenger Diesel delivered to the PRR. They are pulling a westbound mail/express train and are about to pass under the 12th Street Bridge. The gray, two-storey building on the left is the Railway Express Office. Also visible are PRR ES-10 switcher #9174 and the 7th Street Bridge in the distance.
