PRR I-1SA & J-1A, Circa 1950
Title:  PRR I-1SA & J-1A, Circa 1950
Description:  Coal Power. Here is an original photo by Mr. "Bub" Carberry that was taken in East Altoona, Pennsylvania, sometime during the early 1950's. Shown here are two Pennsylvania Railroad steam locomotives near the Coaling Tipple, visible on the far right. Notable are the two "coast-to-coast" tenders and the water tank covered with icicles on what looks like a very frigid day! Photo taken from the adjoining Westbound Receiving Yard. This photo was a gift to me from Mr. "Bub" Carberry of Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, a career railroader who served in those Yards for many years.
