| Description: |
Built in November 1969 for MKT as GP40 218, this diesel became UP 588 in January 1990. February 1998 brought a new number, UP 805, and on May 29, 1998 this old timer was sold to Helm and rebuilt to GP38-3 standards. After rebuilding and the addition to dynamic braking this like new diesel returned to UP as 2580. Another renumbering brought 1060 to the cabside and finally in 2010 this well traveled unit was released by UP and now works for Helm Leasing under the same number. A well travelled EMD for sure! |
