I noticed that the Spartain unit was here and hiding behind it was MAW 4 still in its former Santa Fe paint. The MAW units must have been moved down here also when PREX bought the MAW line. I love the CNUR railroad because they have a whole bunch of funky units from lots of railroads. |

Last time I saw this unit was in March but then the Santa Fe letters were not scratched out but CNUR must have been doing some work on this unit because it is obvious it has been repainted not too long ago. Still Santa Fe colors but not words. |

The engines finally came to a stop at CR 400S a mile northwest of New Lisbon. The engineer stepped out of CNUR 20 and fired up MAW 4, while the conductor hopped onto CNUR 20 as to protect a shoving move. While coming down we noticed a long line coal hoppers that were in storage between New Castle and New Lisbon, so it came to our minds that maybe they were going to pick a couple of them up and place them somewhere else along the line. |

The engines did end up backing down into the long set of coal hoppers and dragged them closer to the road. They stopped momentarily at the road and thats when we were greeted with quite the surprise. The engineer told us that we had picked the right day to come and take their photos, as they would be dragging all 105 cars stored in that line back as far as Beesons. At once TJ and I felt an adrenaline rush. This chase was far from over! |

The SW8 detaches from the GP7u and the GP38-2 and gets parked closer to the shops while MAW 4 and CNUR 20 stay put on the main closer to the yard office. And just like that the chase is done. Ive done a lot of fun trips, but this had to have been one of the most fun. Documenting a railway that hardly anyone has seen in operation was absolutely wild. Im glad TJ convinced me to stay after things were looking down when we arrived. This easily will go down as one of the best trips of my lifetime. |

On our way north I was told that MAW 4 and CNUR 20 were hanging out at Beesons after delivering a windmill nacelle train to the airport earlier in the day. I decided to try an exposure with MAW 4 since there would be no headlights on. I have to say I am happy with the result. Not exactly what we were expecting to get throughout the day but an enjoyable day nonetheless! |
