Description:  The Downeast Scenic's Alco S4 stands ready to lead another excursion down the scenic former MEC Calais branch. The unit was built in 1950 for the Portland Terminal Company, a subsidiary of the Maine Central and Boston & Maine. Spending most of its life switching the freight yards and industries around the Portland area, it later migrated to the White Mountains of New Hampshire as part of the Conway Scenic Railroad's fleet before coming back to its home state to work along the Mid Coast.
