| Description: |
Kansas City Southern GP40 759 was parked at WEST YARD, just outside of New Orleans. It had been built in November 1968 as Penn Central 3187 (EMD 34628) and was acquired by the KCS in January 1984, after its initial 15-year lease expired. It was renumbered 4759 in early 1991 and was eventually sent to Morrison-Knudsen’s BOISE LOCOMOTIVE SHOP as partial payment for upgrading 16 GP40’s into GP40M-2’s 4780-4795 in late 1991. M-K remanufactured it into MARC GP40WH-2 number 57 in June 1994. |
