Description:  Northbound Coal. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Philip R. Hastings that was taken in Elmira, New York, on 5 May 1957. At the right is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4632, an I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapod" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an I-1S during October of 1923, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in January of 1931, and retired in January of 1960. It's become disabled and is actually being towed at the end of a northbound coal train into the Elmira Yards. Also visible is PRR N-5C cabin car #477859. At the left is PRR engine #3437, an H-9S (2-8-0) "Consolidated" built in Juniata as an H-8SB during January of 1913, rebuilt as an H-9S in August of 1923, and retired in December of 1957. It's waiting to tow engine #4632 to the roundhouse for repairs. This photo comes from a color slide set entitled "Steam on the Pennsy's Elmira and Shamokin Branches" that's produced and distributed by Blackhawk Films of Davenport, Iowa (785-21).
