Burlington Northern Railroad SD9 6188 eastbound at Naperville, Illinois on July 28, 1982, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built in August 1957 as CB&Q SD9s 441 (c/n 23620) on EMD Order 5549, it became BN 6188 and was retired in January 1987. The CB&Q ordered 20 SD9s locomotives on Order 5549 (road #'s 440-459), the lower case "s" in the model designation indicating these 20 were equipped with a Single control stand, unusual for the CB&Q at the time. |
