RSR GW-1 smokes up through Retsof with a new leader!
Title:  RSR GW-1 smokes up through Retsof with a new leader!
Description:  The crew stopped down at the shops short to the north of the bridge, where they took 3103 out of the shop, and placed it on the front of the train, and then placed 3000 (fourth out) in the shops. The consist was now 3103-879-104-3107-3101. This took about 45 minutes, then they came around the curve smoking up approaching Route 63.

Description:  Tied down..........high on a hilltop. ///////// I learned today (4/17/2012) that a lot of these cars have recently been cleaned out. A mild winter resulted in a drop in demand for salt, so the car owners might be looking for opportunities to use the cars for something other than hauling salt.

Description:  I think this is train GW1 that is just getting into Retsof this afternoon. I'm also thinking that this string of cars are empty salt hoppers destined to be filled at American Rock Salt in Mt. Morris, NY. /////// Well, I learned today (4/17/2012) that I was wrong. The 51 cars on this train were brought into Retsof for cleaning, they did not go to Mt. Morris. And, on the return trip, 96 "clean" cars were hauled away.
