Standing silently along Berckman Street, its grade crossing into a former factory long since removed, is this former CNJ style crossbuck. While the mainline was elevated over street level through this section of Plainfield, behind the camera, many freight customers along the right of way prompted the use o` sidings at street level to better serve the industries. Today, there are quite a few industries that call this neighborhood home but the local freight trains of yesterday have mostly vanished from this portion og the former Jersey Central. |
