Title:  ICG No. 41
Description:  The locomotives for Illinois Central Gulf train No. 41 were parked on former GM&O/GM&N track at Laurel, Mississippi. The units were IC GP8 7904 with GM&O GP38's 712, 718 and 715. A crew would head north from Laurel on No.40 and turned at Union as No. 41. After switching at Laurel, a new crew was called and the train departed for Mobile. That crew would then return to Laurel the next day on No. 40. (approximate date)

Southern Crescent
Title:  Southern Crescent
Description:  This was a view from dome car 1613 on the rear of the SOUTHERN CRESCENT as the train made its way north near Laurel, Mississippi. The train consisted of E8A's 6902, 6910, 6908 and 6914 with 10 cars: baggage-dormitory 706 SOUTH CAROLINA, coaches 837, 840, 819 and Amtrak 5680, sleepers 2023 WARRIOR RIVER, Amtrak 2619 PACIFIC MEADOW and 3499 ROYAL PALM, diner 3306 and dome car 1613. In less than a year, Amtrak would take over the operation of the train, and scenes like this would disappear forever.

Description:  This is a view from the vestibule of Southern Railway coach 840 as the northbound SOUTHERN CRESCENT curved through the woods approaching Laurel, Mississippi. Up ahead were E8A units 6902, 6910, 6908 and 6916, baggage-dormitory car 706 SOUTH CAROLINA and coach 837. In less than a year Amtrak would take over the operation of this train and scenes like this would end forever.
