This was the last run of the White River Scenic Railway's tourist train, headed by leased 908. I was in the cab of 908 on the second to last run and heard a loud BANG and the locomotive shuttered. I shot a startled look at the Engineer who commented, 'Just making transition'. |

This depot was built in 1906 by the Saint Louis Iron Mountain & Southern, became a Missouri Pacific Railroad depot upon merger in 1917, was briefly a Union Pacific Railroad depot between 1982 and 1992, and then became a M&NA facility. Between 1916 and 1950 this depot had a second floor for the chief dispatcher and trick dispatchers as well as the car distributor. The early plan had been for a full second floor, but only the half above the bay window was completed. There was also a high water mark on the depot, roughly four feet up from the ground. To the right about a quarter mile is the White River which would periodically flood, putting the yard under water. |
