Description:  The 1913 Missouri Pacific station, affectionately called the "Truman Depot" in honor of its famous citizen who made frequent stops here, has been meticulously maintained now as an Amtrak Station after years of decline and neglect. This is on the north side with a branch lline just north of the station. The former MP mainline is on the south side.

We were delayed two hours out of Independence due to a lack of sand in the engine, so far (somewhere west of Jeff City) we've gone in the hole once for a passing freight, am looking at a 2300 arrival at the destination...but hey, Im living large tonight courtesy of Amtrak.
