On To Glencoe
Title:  On To Glencoe
Description:  Now in Eden Prairie, the 261's fall color run to Glencoe heads on down the old Milwaukee Road with the "Cedar Rapids" bringing up the markers. Apparently the TC&W diesel that would take the train back to town would be added at Glencoe. The Skytop obs and Super Dome call forth visions of when "The Olympian Hiawatha" once plied these rails.

What An Outrage!
Title:  What An Outrage!
Description:  We are looking south towards Pioneer Trail while along the old Louie main line at the start of Chaska Hill. For years the trail has been closed here because, apparently, Three Rivers Parks lacks the money to fix damage caused by mudslides! Were the old Louie still in use, however, the line would have been reopened long before. This is a graphic example of why rail trails are not beneficial to preserving the integrity of rail corridors. The trail owners drag their feet on making repairs! Oh for the return of Lucian C. Sprague and the glory days of the Minneapolis & St. Louis. Mr. Sprague would have had Chaska Hill fixed in no time, my friends.

Echo Of The Olympian Hiawatha
Title:  Echo Of The Olympian Hiawatha
Description:  The "Cedar Rapids" brings up the rear on the Fall Colors train to Glencoe as the train crosses Eden Prairie Road. You know, I once daydreamed about "The Olympian Hiawatha" traveling on this, the Milwaukee Road's route to the Pacific Coast. The "Olympian Hi's" skytop obs featured in this daydream. While the "Cedar Rapids" is not a sleeper Skytop obs, it still was great to see a Skytop on this portion of the old Milwaukee Road.

Here She Comes
Title:  Here She Comes
Description:  Today's westbound run, this time to Winthrop, MN, nears my vantage point, the new pedestrian grade crossing along the Twin Cities & Western down by Eden Prairie High School. Wish I had left the flash on, which would have cut the headlight glare, but oh well.

Nearing Eden Prairie Road
Title:  Nearing Eden Prairie Road
Description:  The weather for the secon day of the 261's excursions dawned gray and humid with passing showers, but the train made it out of town on time and soon was romping down the old Milwaukee Road. Here the 261 is nearing Eden Prairie Road.

Wow!
Title:  Wow!
Description:  This was an unplanned shot, and the flash came on for this because I was fiddling with my camera settings before taking the shot. The flash cut through the humidity in the air, creating this cool effect. Not bad for a chance shot!

E-Unit In The Eden
Title:  E-Unit In The Eden
Description:  E-units hauling "The Olympian Hiawatha" once rolled through Eden Prairie. This weekend they finally returned in the form of Milwaukee 32A (nee WSOR 101). An E-unit in the Eden is a sight to see, folks.

First Deferred, Then Added
Title:  First Deferred, Then Added
Description:  Town Center Station on the SWLRT, located northeast of Southwest Station, was originally going to be deferred during initial construction of the line, being added at a later date, but then it was added in with all the rest. Costs rose accordingly, but the station is now finished save for the overhead wire and the final touches.

Wow, What A Bridge!
Title:  Wow, What A Bridge!
Description:  "Wow, what a bridge!" is what I think of this majestic span which first parallels and then crosses Prairie Center Drive while carrying the Southwest LRT out of Southwest Station. Riding across this span is going to be a treat once SWLRT is open, not to mention photographing trains crossing it!
