Title:  Bridge piers of former BN main.
Description:  What you are looking at is former BN at York, Alabama where it crossed over the NS, former Southern. BN abandoned the old AT&N in 1991 when the ripped out the rails. However, they left behind things that have miraculously stayed in fairly good shape. THe BN had trackage rights over NS at Boligee where they would ride to York, unlock the switch and derail, proceed up to the small yard in York. Currently, former BN customer AT&N lumber still is going strong- but without rail service.

Description:  BN left a large and lengthy trestle in York that stays hidden unless you go to it. It crosses Toomsuba creek. The BN removed some trestles, but much of them are still around.

Title:  NS southbound coming out of McGregor siding.
Description:  Coming out of the spring switch at McGregor siding in York, an NS southbound gets it rolling towards Meridian. To my left is the former BN interchange track. Before abandonment in 1992, BN would operate from Amory-Columbus, MS where it would operate from Columbus to Boligee, AL where it would take a left onto the AGS south end and run to York where it would get on its tracks at York. The railroad met its demise after a loss in customers, expenses for bridges and various "flood locations", as well as there was already a pre-existing route BN had to Mobile via Columbus straight through Boligee, down to Demopolis. York was also home to the Sumter and Choctaw railway which bit the dust by 1986.
