Description:  I saw several Georgia Power coal trains while in the area. These had a standard consist, which included a single DPU about halfway into the train. The train sets stayed together, and the DPUs kept their position, loaded or empty. This is an empty train heading back north, the DPU right in place.

Description:  The station at Stevenson is not only historic, but has a couple of stuffed and mounted items. The GE is numbered 5, but no road name. The caboose is lettered L&N 50, which Im pretty sure is not an accurate number for an L&N caboose. But they look good in front of the station.

Title:  Two to one, then split again
Description:  The line from Bridgeport to Stevenson is double track from just north of the Tennessee River to this point. CSX owns the track, NS runs on trackage rights. This is the west end of double track at Stevenson. In the immediate foreground is the switch where the NS Memphis District diverges to head west. Im sure theres a reason they did it this way, but it seems to me it would have made more sense, and added some flexibility, to continue the westbound track and have a pair of crossovers. But, I dont run the place.

Description:  Standing on the old platform between the CSX Chattanooga Sub main and the depot and railroad hotel buildings in Stevenson while a train passes is not for the faint of heart. Combined empty grain and coal train E319 is over eleven thousand feet long and is getting back up to track speed after meeting Q583. The tracks of Norfolk Southern's Memphis East District can be seen in the background. CSX and Norfolk Southern share tracks from Stevenson to Wauhatchie, TN on the southwest side of Chattanooga, an agreement that dates back to the days of the N.C.&St.L. and the Southern.
