Title:  The Navy's Blue Angels fly in the background as UP 9988 passes
Description:  There is some type of Air Show at Barksdale AFB on Saturday, and the Navy's Blue Angels have been rehearsing all week. Usually, the military jets stay on the East Side of the Red River (over Bossier City) but for air shows, the planes do fly over Shreveport. I hope to get a better shot on Saturday, though if they run in the morning the sun will be on the wrong side. The most interesting part is that when I look at the series of photos I took, the four jets are in exactly the same formation in each photo, the only difference being relative size as the jets get farther away from the camera.

Title:  Six KCS Locomotives Powering Freight Down Wilson Alley
Description:  KCS Retro Belles 4047, 4048, 4052 along with KCS 4577, 2026, and 2954 overpower this long freight going down the Wilson Alley grade in Shreveport. You can see all the sand spots where trains going up the grade have had to get all the traction possible to make it up the grade (and I've seen some trains get stuck). The teal building adds color, but unfortunately clashes with the Retro Belle paint scheme.

Description:  UP 5210 leads a train grinding up the surprisingly steep Wilson Alley grade in Shreveport. On the track to the viewer's left, you can see sand over the ties from locomotives trying to pull trains up this grade. I have seen 4 or 5 UP trains actually stall on the grade, and this freight was clearly working hard to make it up the grade.

Description:  Do gooders who feed some men who drink on one side of a railroad bridge are pictured here on their rjturn to their cars. I cannot imagine that the KCS would give them permission to use the bridge and the KCS certainly would not give them permission to have kidt in the middle of the bridge. The adults never looked back at the kids (or for trains) the entire time they were going back over the bridge. Note the amber svgnal which means that a train is coming up the grade behind them.

Description:  Shreveport's downtown UP yard is along the riverfront in Shreveport, across from tke Horseshoe Casino Hotel (in the r.h. corner of photo). The approaching UP freight in this picture has just left the UP yard from the north end. The KCS coal unit train is on a track that winds around to the south end of the UP yaid. This track converges into the double track main to form the triple track main just southwest of downtown Shreveport. The SUV by the locomotive is a KCS' roadmaster's SUV.
