Description:
Here is a fairly nice color photo of the two former Central of Georgia SD9's #205 & 206 working the 19 miles of the Class III shortline Algiers, Winslow & Western in Pike County, Indiana. The two were built by EMD in June of 1955 as CG 205 #206 but then merged into the Southern Rwy roster as their #205 & 206. No photographer was listed for the photo.

AWW SD9 #206 & @205 - Algiers, Winslow & Western
Description:
Two of the SD9 units on the Class III shortline railroad, Algiers, Winslow & Western, are seen here in Cottage Grove, Indiana. The shortline operates 19 miles of trackage and serves surface mining operations. The shortline was acquired by Norfolk Southern in March of 2007 although it has seen a drop in mining traffic since 2004. Only a few small industries are served now. No photographer was listed for the photo.

My only time I witnessed an old Algers, Winslow & Western SD9s! Taken at the Indiana Eastern Railroad yard, July 25, 2019. I also saw AWW SD9 #205 stored on an overgrown track and not being used. Indiana Eastern got a high hood GP38-2 that was being prepped for paint which they started using later in 2019. I do not know if AWW SD9 #206 is being used anymore, though a worker said it was going to be back up power to the GP38-2! It did not look like AWW 205 would run again, but hopefully! Recently though (March 2020), sister railroad Squaw Creek Southern scrapped the other two AWW SD9s (there were 4 total)! Glad I got two on this trip. Photo taken with permission. Algers, Winslow & Western SD9!!!!
Description:
My only time I witnessed an old Algers, Winslow & Western SD9 pulling a train, now parks the engine! Taken at the Indiana Eastern Railroad yard, July 25, 2019. I also saw AWW SD9 #205 stored on an overgrown track and not being used there. Indiana Eastern got a high hood GP38-2 that was being prepped for paint at this time! They started using it later in 2019. I do not know if AWW SD9 #206 is being used. A worker said it was going to be back up power to the GP38-2! However, recently (March 2020) sister railroad Squaw Creek Southern scrapped the other two AWW SD9s (there were 4 total)! Glad I got two on this trip. Photo taken with permission.
