Description:  On our trip to Cleveland, we stopped to do something wed planned for a long time. No, not sit at Springfield and shoot Amtrak and UP trains, but tour the Frank Lloyd Wright Dana Thomas House, which is a block from the tracks, several blocks south of the station. The house is well worth the visit, and has the largest amount of original Wright art glass in existence-and the tour is free!! We had some time after before heading east, so went up to see what was going on. It turned out we were able to shoot St Louis bound train 305, but prior to that, we got some shots of the station itself, along with some panels about Abraham Lincolns funeral train. This is the main part of the building, with a second floor tower overlooking the tracks.

Description:  Every so often, Amtrak updates its equipment. Since I dont live near any Amtrak lines-Im about equal distance from Little Rock and Kansas City-I dont get to see the "new" stuff often. That, and my 64 year old mind still thinks of Amfleet, and even Heritage cars. So seeing the cars now running on Amtrak midwest is a treat. This car was on train 305 at Springfield.

Description:  We were en route to Cleveland mid October, and made a point of seeing some things on the way. One of them, a long time bucket list item, was to see Frank Lloyd Wrights Dana Thomas house in Springfield. It happens, the home is adjacent to the ex Alton Route now used by Amtrak Lincoln Service. As were were looking for a place to park, train 303 was making his stop there. I was able to get a quick shot off before we went on the tour.
