Description:  This is the westbound CDK. The D&RGW and NS had a coal train that ran from Colorado to Bluffs, IL where it was transloaded to a barge. The power and caboose would run light to Decatur after the train was set out. The next afternoon, the light power would be called west after SC-1. That gave the crew plenty of time to put the empties together and head west to Kansas City.

Description:  Chicago & Illinois Midland Railway RS1325 30 at Springfield, Illinois on an unknown day in July 1986, Kodachrome by Joseph R. Quinn, Chuck Zeiler collection. Nwmber 30 was one of only two RS1325 locomotives built. Numbers 30 ( c/n 25773 ) and 31 ( c/n 25774 ) were built in September 1960. Both survived for a while in the Illinois & Midland ( a Gennessee & Wyoming company that took over the C&IM ), but it appears that at least one has moved on the the Atlantic & Western.
