Description:  According to the information on the back of the photo, this 0-6-0 switcher was delivered in August of 1937, about a month before this photo was taken. It does explain the sheen still on the boiler casing and lack of any grime on the cylinders. Photo credit given is just Willards.

Title:  CRI&P RS2m 453
Description:  CRI&P RS2m 453 at South Chicago, Illinois on August 17, 1975, Kodachrome by Paul L. Strang, Chuck Zeiler collection. This locomotive was built by Alco as an RS2 during September - October 1948, sent to EMD during March 1957 (EMD Order 8523) for replacement of its Alco Model 244B prime mover with an EMD 567C, retaining its 1500 horsepower rating as well as long hood forward configuration. The Rock Island had five RS2's (road #'s 450-454) and all received EMD prime movers and long hoods during 1957.
