Description:  CRI&P U25B 209 at Silvis, Illinois on June 5, 1984, Kodachrome by Jim Altman, Chuck Zeiler collection. This locomotive was built between September - October 1963 (c/n 34721). One source offers the following explanation of the lights on the corners of the cab: I believe the "frog" lights (as they were known) were installed to enhance visibility around curves and in tight areas such as yards and industry, sort of a precursor to the Ditch Lights. They were only applied to a handful of units, a pair of U25B's and at least one U28B.
