Budd car conversion to private car.
Title:  Budd car conversion to private car.
Description:  This is my friends 1949 Budd sleeper car named the Pacific Shore that we are converting in to a private car. Was made for Union Pacific then Amtrak bought it and used it up till around 1998 or 1999. When we are done it will be Amtrak approved. It is being stored at the Heart of Georgia (HOG) repair facilities where there home office are located in Americus Georgia. The SAM tourist railroad owned by the state of Georgia runs on the HOG tracks and is pulled by HOG locomotives. I will be riding on HOG next month. With my old poor camera it is hard to get good pictures in side but I did as well as I could. Will list more pictures as work progresses. I all so am including some pictures from the yard around the repair facilities.

Description:  While I was taking pictures, I got to talking to one of the mechanics there. He told me that they had pulled this locomotive out of the woods about three years ago. He said it had trees growing out of the hood and was really rusty. They had to replace the wheels to get it out. Good to see another locomotive given a new life. Love the paint job!
