So this ATSF 102:5 was actually last seen as ATSF 5998, and was delivered as ATSF 108:2. What makes this worse is when the next renumbering comes this unit will become ATSF 5998 AGAIN (but only for less than 60 days) before getting its final Santa Fe number of ATSF 98. So the unit seen here is the same one now at Perris, CA as ATSF 108 in as delivered paint. |

A little judicious framing with the stations ivy covered columns, and the larger lettering on the 1989 version was eliminated from view. |

The four-car passenger special would depart later, headed for Cadiz (between Barstow and Needles) and return to try and persuade investors that garbage trains to a proposed garbage dump would be feasible. |
