AMTK 505 |
| Description: |
Due to trackwork on September 8th, 2012 (new switches being installed at CP Stadium in Anaheim), Amtrak's "Pacific Surfliners" detoured on the Olive Subdivision between Orange and Atwood (Placentia), at which point they reversed direction and headed to Fullerton. Not exactly rare mileage (thanks to Metrolink), catching "Surfliners" on these lines is somewhat rare. Train 566 is seen crossing the Santa Ana River on the Olive Sub (and also crossing from Anaheim to Orange) on its way to Oceanside, with Dash 8-32BWH 505 and F59PHI 450 powering the train. (There was also trackwork going on south of Oceanside, so these trains were only operating between L.A. and Oceanside, rather than going all the way to San Diego.) |

BNSF 6975 |
| Description: |
On August 11th, 2013, BNSF Railway train M-BARSDG1-11A makes its way down Metrolinks Olive Subdivision on its way from Barstow to San Diego. This track is the cutoff between the BNSFs Transcon mainline (connecting Los Angeles to Chicago) and Metrolinks Orange Sub (which is the old Santa Fe Fourth Sub from Fullerton to San Diego). The train, led by ES44C4 6975, is about to cross the intersection of Glassell, Orange-Olive (the street parallel to the track) and Taft - a complicated confluence of three streets and the railroad! |

Amtrak's first Veterans engine, #42, is on the point, still wearing last Christmas' Toys For Tots banner on its nose. It was also displaying its red marker lights, too. |

BNSF 5662 |
| Description: |
Running about 18 minutes late, Metrolink train 689 (Irvine to Los Angeles) approaches the station in Orange, California, on July 13, 2016. As with most Metrolink trains in 2016, a leased BNSF AC4400CW, 5662, is leading because the carrier is not trusting that the pilots on the Korean-built cab cars is sufficiently braced to allow trains to operate with a cab car leading while in push-mode. |

LTEX 18520 |
| Description: |
The remnants of Hurricane Rosa result in more clouds than usual for a southern California day in October, along with warm temperatures. On October 4, 2018, Metrolink train 640, one of the Fullerton to Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo shuttles; arrives in Orange behind leased F59PH LTEX 18520. This engine, originally GO Transit 520, was leased to Metrolink as RBRX 18520 starting in late 2013. Recently, owner Rosen Beaudin Group sold their engines to Larrys Truck & Electric, and the only noticable change was replacing the RBRX reporting marks with LTEX reporting marks. |
