The car was built by the Sheffield Car Company of Three Rivers, MI around 1920 and donated to the city of Tomah in September of 2000. This old had car is a fitting display considering Tomah's past as the Milwaukee's system wide Maintenance of Way shop. |

Tomah Lumber occupies the former site of the Harper Leaf Tobacco Company. The company was located within the Milwaukee Road's shops property east of N. Superior Avenue. The structure dates before 1930, which is when the tobacco company also incorporated the buildings of the Tomah Co-operative Elevator Association Inc. into their complex. The Harper Leaf Tobacco Company steamed, cured and packaged tobacco. The company had a spur coming in from the eastern side of the complex, but has been removed. Tomah Lumber does not use rail service, at least not directly at this location. |
