For the first run in the morning, the locomotive of the day makes a deadhead run down the mountain from Mineral to Elbe, hooks on to however many coaches they are taking that day, and then pulls them all back to where the locomotive came from in the first place. |

Ex-NP F-9 |
| Description: |
This is an operable F-9, obviously obtained from the Northern Pacific. They use this one about once a month to pull the passenger coaches and also as a hostler locomotive to move the rolling stock around the yard and also to take a tank car down the mountain to bring it back up full of water for the steam locomotives. Although it is great to see in action, I was told by one of the volunteers at Mineral that running the F-9 is rather a pain due to the lack of visibility, especially going in the backwards direction down the hill. |

BA&P #441 |
| Description: |
Built in 1910 by Pullman as an 84 seat coach, 1 of 51 such cars built in that Lot for the D&RG; cars were delivered between July and October 1910. 40 of the 51 cars weve leased to the WP as #301-#340; 12 of these 40 cars had a smoking compartment (24 of the 84 seats) at the men's end, including the car seen here. The other 11 cars were Unitially numbered as D&RG #888-#898. After several years, the cars leased to WP were transferred back to D&RG(W); the first 25 cars were transferred by 8/25/1918; the remoining 15 cars were transferred between 11/1923 and 1/1924. All 51 cars were renumbered to the #900-#950 range, and as cars were modernized by the D&RGW (including ice AC/ as well as Heywood-Wakefield chairs in some), higher #9xx-series and low #10xx-series numbers were applied. Some cars did not receive AC; D&RGW used these cars for extma capacity; a few of these cars were also renumbered. D&RGW sold 15 of these unmodernized cars to the Algoma Central in 1949 and 1950, including this car. At this time, the WP/D&RG(W)/AC numbering history is unknown.
