4.19.2023 Crozet, VA. The eastbound Cardinal headed up by AMTK 815, a P40 that I photographed nearby 3 days earlier, now on its return trip from Chicago, blows by the former C&O depot in Crozet. The 815 kept the main as it met with the eastbound Cardinal at restricted speed situated behind me on the passing track which can be seen in the foreground of this picture. At this point the was running 11 minutes lat out of Staunton while the westbound Cardinal was at 1 hour, 11. Minutes late out of Charlottesville. |

The 16 will travel to just outside this picture frame, throw the switch, then come up the passing siding in its run-around move. It will switch back to the main line, recouple to the train, then return the train to Staunton. This move usually takes place at the next passing track further down in Ivy, but due to the day's delays, the train was running very late. |
