TXXX 6931 |
| Description: |
TXXX 6931 rests between assignments shuttling carloads of sulfur on Galveston Island. Delivered to Chicago & North Western as CNW 6931 SD40-2 in November 1976, this unit was to become UP 3094 but instead was stored then retired in 2001. After joining CIT Group as CEFX 6931 it spent a few years leased to Dallas Garland and Northeastern with a simple reporting mark patch to denote the new owner. In late 2015 Texas International Terminals purchased it and now employs her as TXXX 6931. After departing the Union Pacific roster this motor lost the front plow and distinctive CNW nose bell but managed to hold onto the cab mounted strobe light. While most people enjoy the beach and salty seaside air, the Northwestern paint (along with the hopper behind 6931) is not handling it well. |
