K403 (Chicago, IL Proviso - Ladds, GA) passes the Hazen Brigade Monument in the Stones River National Battlefield on the north side of Murfreesboro. The monument is the oldest Civil War monument in the nation. A Union Pacific motor is on the point of the train. One of the chief engineers involved in the original construction of the UP was Grenville Dodge, who was a Union general during the Civil War (although he was not present at Stones River). |

A trio of six axles motors are tied down on the "Brick Track" across from the depot (the track takes its name from the brickyard that it used to serve). These are most likely power for the daily turn that runs between here and Radnor Yard in Nashville. The four axle power tied down on the old piggyback track in the distance is more than likely used for working industries in Murfreesboro proper. |
