Changes at Kilgore
Title:  Changes at Kilgore
Description:  The Kilgore siding is being extended anothes several hundred feet or so and CTC will ge installed. Crews also did some minor track re-alignment. When its all said and done, the main will go straight and the siding will move to where the main cprrently sits in this photo. Around the curve in the distamce, the main & siding will revert back to their original alignment. The crossing in the distance will be removed and a new road will be built in the red clay area on the right

Description:  Here the new mainline alignment is almost complete. Soon the siding will taqe over the old mainline right of way and the old siding will be removed. Around the curve, the trains will fall back into their original positions.

Description:  This is the first time I have seen a coal train use the siding at Kilgore. Since they extended this siding and closed most of the grade crossings in it, this siding is now a decent place to meet trains. Once the CTC is turned on, I'm sure it will get a lot more use!

Parked coal train

Description:  An empty hopper train sits near the north end of Kilgore siding. The old switch was located where the antenna tower is behind the lead unit. The new road on the right is the relocated Kilgore Bridge Rd which used to cross at grade around the curve. That crossing was the main reason very few trains ever met in this siding.
