When fully assembled this machine is used to lift derailed train cars back into position on the rails. There is usually two of these working together at once. These have rubber tracks so that they can easily move across railyards without damaging any rails. Hulcher Professional Services is a national railroad contractor specializing in derailments. Four of their trucks were here at the CSX yard in South Connellsville, Pa for a small derailment at Green Junction where CSX and SWP meet. The tracks have been bad at the location for quite a while and it finally caught up with them. |

The PTS-90 Plasser Dynamic Track Stabilizer is designed to apply controlled, accurate stabilizing forces into the track structure at continuous speeds of up to 3/4 mph. All track is subject to settling due to traffic loads. This settling occurs irregularly and uncontrolled, resulting in track deterioration. Dynamic track stabilization is a combination of horizontal vibration and a vertical load. The stabilizing unit is a well proven design developed in 1975 with more than 400 machines in regular use on various railroads worldwide since 1978. |
