Description:  Here is a one-page excerpt from David W. Messer's 2001 book entitled "Triumph IV: Harrisburg To Altoona, 1846-2001," page 321. Partial Caption: "The Sam Rea Line was a bold proposal for a cross-country route running from Lewistown on the Middle Division across Pennsylvania and Ohio and rejoining the main at Adams, Indiana, on the Ft. Wayne Division. It was intended as a low-grade, high-speed line for through trains, by-passing the congestion through Pittsburgh." (Both diagrams were published originally in the Spring 1999 issue of "The Keystone.")
