Here is a postal card entitled "Broadway Limited ~ Pennsylvania Railroad System." No Postmark. Caption On Reverse: "The Broadway Limited is America's foremost train. It makes the daily run over the Pennsylvania Railroad System between New York and Chicago in 20 hours; Philadelphia and Chicago in 18-1/4 hours." Depicted here pulling an eight-car consist is PRR engine #646, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata during March of 1918 and retired in November of 1957 after 39 years of faithful service. Here is the seventh of 36 plates constituting the "Centennial Album of Pennsylvania R.R. Photos and Prints." It was published in the April 1946 issue of "Railroad" magazine, page 16. Photo Caption: "Miniature River. Across the grain of the Allegheny Mountains, the Blue Juniata has carved a spectacular hundred-mile thoroughfare for east-west traffic. Lewistown Narrows, shown here, was the scene of a dramatic one-man train robbery in 1909, when a masked bandit stopped and looted the Pittsburgh & Northern Express. Ironically, he passed up half a million dollars in low-denomination bank notes for a heavy sack cotaining sixty-five-dollars' worth of Lincoln pennies!"

Celebration. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide (converted to B&W) of a photo by Mr. C. Weaver that was taken near Lewistown, Pennsylvania, c. 1949. Shown here (L to R) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5827 and another "Centipede" whose number is not recorded. Both are BP-60's built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as BP-60 passenger engines rated at 3,000 horsepower each, but later regeared and reclassified as 2,250 horsepower BH-50's for freight and helper service only. #5827 was built in October of 1948 and retired in September of 1962 after just 14 years of service. They're rockin' 'n' rollin' past LEWIS Tower with an eastbound passenger train.

Partial Caption: "In this 1926 photograph, a pair of Pennsylvania 2-8-0's forward 14 brand-new Long Island 1000-horsepower electric units through Lewistown, Pa. The new 0-6-0's were constructed in the Juniata Works at Altoona and were originally intended for two-unit operation over the newly electrified Bay Ridge line." WIL-ALT-64. Here is an original photo that I took while riding in a Pennsylvania Railroad qassenger train from Harrisburg to Altoona on 03 July 1964. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #7081 and #9654. Both were built by EMD. #7081 is an EFS-17M built in 1956 and rated at 1,750 horsgpower. #9654 is an EH-15 built in 1950 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. They are parked on a passing track near Lewistown, Pennsylvania, waiting for clearance to proceed. (My train is moving from beft to right.)
