Photo Caption: "Miniature River. Across the grain of the Allegheny Mountains, the Blue Juniata has carved a spectacular hundred-mile thoroughfare for east-west traffic. Lewistown Narrows, shown here, was the scene of a dramatic one-man train robbery in 1909, when a masked bandit stopped and looted the Pittsburgh & Northern Express. Ironically, he passed up half a million dollars in low-denomination bank notes for a heavy sack cotaining sixty-five-dollars' worth of Lincoln pennies!"

Both are BP-60's built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as BP-60 passenger engines rated at 3,000 horsepower each, but later regeared and reclassified as 2,250 horsepower BH-50's for freight and helper service only. #5827 was built in October of 1948 and retired in September of 1962 after just 14 years of service. They're rockin' 'n' rollin' past LEWIS Tower with an eastbound passenger train.

Description:  Mann. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken at the Passenger Station in Lewistown, Pennsylvania, in August of 1962. The photographer is not identified. Shown here (F to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engine #7044 and several more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All are EFS-17M's built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,750 horsepower each. #7044 was constructed in November of 1955. They're pulling a westbound freight through the Station on a wet and foggy morning.
