Description:  Electric Action. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide by an unidentified photographer that was taken near Leaman Place, Pennsylvania, on 30 April 1961. Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4700, a P-5 (2-C-2) built in Juniata as number "7898" in July of 1931, rated at 3,750 horsepower, renumbered "4700" in September of 1933, retired in April of 1965, and presently on display at the National Museum of Transportation in Kirkwood, Missouri. Here, it's at Leaman Place with an excursion.

Description:  Prophet. Here is a postal card entitled "Pennsylvania 4930." No Postmark. Caption On Reverse: "Loaded with head-end revenue express cars, Pennsylvania RR GG-1 #4930 rolls through Leaman Place, PA, with a westbound passenger express. They looked kinda' black, but they were a special dark green, Brunswich Green, don'tcha know. 1962 photo." Photo by John M. Prophet III. #4930 is a GG-1 (2-C-C-2) built in Juniata during February of 1943, rated at 4,620 horsepower, and retired by the Penn Central Railroad in December of 1968 after 25 years of faithful service. The exact date is not recorded.

Shown here is a Strasburg Rail Road Company (SRC) train in the process of switching the engines from one end of an eight-car excursion train to the other. Visible (L to R) are PRR engine #1223 and SRC engine #31. #1223 is a D-16SB (4-4-0) "American" built in Juniata during November of 1905. #31 is an 0-6-0 built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during August of 1908.

Riding the footboard
Title:  Riding the footboard
Description:  A practice long outlawed in day to day railroading, riding footboards continues on some museum operations, due to the historic equipment being exempt from the requirement that footboards be removed. The conductor of this train rides the footboard of the tender during this run around move at Leaman Place, adjacent to the ex PRR main line.
