Photo Caption: "R-class Consolidation No. 1309 appears to have fared well during the flood, with only a pile of debris heaped against its front end. The five-month-old engine remained in service for many more years, finally being scrapped in 1915." Shown here is PRR engine #1309, an "R" Class (2-8-0) "Consolidation" built in the Altoona Machine Shops during January of 1889 and retired in June of 1915 after 26 years of faithful service. |
