Description:  Once the train got over the top at Clarks Summit, it would take off as the DLW engineering folks envisioned when they built the line in 1912. The trees have cut down the view some, but we still have a good looking train rolling north at Hop Bottom. The station, standing but in disrepair, is behind me.

Description:  Most trains were not heavy enough to get pushers out of Scranton, and practice was to put the tonnage on and drag it up to Clarks Summit with the road power. Still, some trains got helpers, such as this 555. They would stay on all the way to Binghamton.

Title:  Backward running
Description:  The train had no place to turn the engine at Kingsley, so the return to Scranton was done in reverse. Its not the most photogenic look for a steam engine, and most photographers shot the northbound trip, and bagged the return. I caught 2317 rolling past the siding at Hop Bottom on the way back to Scranton this day.
