Our last shot of the day was this TV 79, which had left North Bergen NJ that morning, now rolling though Erie on its mad dash to an ATSF connection in Chicago with 95 cars of TOFC. Halfway there!! |

One of the more interesting parts of the NS former Nickel Plate line was this stretch of 19th St in Erie, where the tracks ran down the middle. Im sure the residents made their peace with it, but I can imagine having a train in your front yard several times per day must have been a pest at times. Here we see HAN 1X taking a slow stroll through town with 30 platforms and 15 COFC. It would not be til 2002 that the locals would get some relief, when a connection was built to the CSX former NYC line on either end of the street running. That "89" at left is the milepost(from Buffalo), and not a house number. |

The company I work for was going to thrww out a number of items in preparation of an office relocation. I spotted a picture that was going to be thrown out that included two Conrail locomotives. The locomotives were obviously not the focus of the picture so I cropped the picture ‰o upload on the RRPA site (at the expense of resolution). The date printed on the back of the picture by the film-processing machine appears to show the date as being June 2, 1995. Accordingly, I am assiming that the date the picture was taken approximates that date. There is no indication of where the picture was taken so I am guessing that it was taken in the general Erie, PA area. |
