Description:  Now a museum. This was last used as a passenger station in the early 1970s. Amtrak built an Amshack and used it until the Pioneer was discontinued.

Description:  The covered hoppers in the distance are on what remains of the former UP main to Walla Walla and Spokane. When UP abandoned the line between here and Athena in the early 1960s NP and later BN used the track to access Pendleton. The rails were just to the right of the remaining east/west UP main.

Description:  The rock cribs mark the location of the near side of the NP\BN bridge over the Umatilla River. The fill is the location of the far side of the bridge. Abandoned in 1992.

Description:  You can just make out the bridge abutment through the bushes. This line was abandoned between Pendleton and Athena in the early 1960s. The bridge was removed in 1992.

Description:  Tail track and spur (crossing the street) to the west side of the flour mill. The switching for the flour mill was shared by BN and UP until BN pulled out of Pendleton in 1992. My boys and I got a cab ride in a UP GP38-2 in the early 1980s while it was switching this spur for the mill.

Description:  Looking toward the UP tracks. Most of the three track yard was behind me. Nothing but buildings there now. The run around was done via a tail track that extended out beside the old high school. The tail track was probably the way NP accessed the yard from there own line into Pendleton.
