This trian struck train H-PTRSTL9-28 (BNSF 4349, BNSF 4866, ATSF 609, 22 loads, 45 empties, 4222 tons, 3809 feet) as it was taking siding. This resulted in the derailment of the three locomotives on G-SJOLAR9-26 and four cars (OCPX 62871, DOWX 79567, DOWX 79678, and NATX 82801) on H-PTRSTL9-28. This series of photographs documents the recovery process from first light through the ballasting of the installed track panels late in the evening. The main track was placed back in service at 15:05 on 12-30-2003. In this photo the power from the emergency ballast train (2 East Facing C44-9Ws have cut away from their trian and have pulled tank car CCBX 2494 (was coupled to NATX 82801) and re-railed C44-9W BNSF 4648 west of the derailment site to make room for the recovery process.
