Description:  Train 412 rolls across Martins Creek with an eclectic mix of power. This train, counterpart 413, and 12T/13T were the most likely trains on this route to get unusual power, as todays 412 shows. It has 69 cars in tow, some of which will eventually arrive at Linwood on the ex Southern.

More roadside running
Title:  More roadside running
Description:  The road that runs next to CPs East Binghamton yard is NY 7, which follows the line down past Conklin, where it turns west, and NY 7A picks up the chase. Once into Pennsylvania, it becomes one of PAs many 4 digit tertiary roads, and soon winds up in Hallstead. We are just south of the state line in PA where there is a small pull out with a good view of the tracks. The light is getting really low as I catch 30T with a set of old power in an easy shot.

Gaining speed
Title:  Gaining speed
Description:  13T rolls toward the PA 706 underpass, picking up speed as it heads down the old DLW. The BNSF unit is notable, though not uncommon on this train, which seemed to get western power pretty routinely. The trailing unit is the real surprise, a B40-8. NS did not have many of these, and none purchased by NS itself. This is a legacy CR unit.

On the big viaduct
Title:  On the big viaduct
Description:  Train 166 crosses Tunkhannock Creek Viaduct, also known as the Nicholson Bridge. Getting shots of a train on the viaduct can be problematic. Theres a four foot wall on the edges, making a shot from the ground difficult, because you lose the trucks and some of the carbody. The good shots from in town are rather far off, though you need some distance to get a good view of the viaduct, which is just over 1/2 mile long. This is from a parking area off US 11 at the south end of the structure. I did OK considering.

Description:  In May of 2005 an inspection train was run over CP for Guilford behind a pair of ex CN wide cab GP 40s. Here we see it at Conklin NY on its way south in typically stunning Southern Tier weather.

Title:  Southbound empty coal
Description:  From time to time, NS would send coal to the D&H via Harrisburg. On CP these would be symbolled 8858 north and 8859 south, with varying symbols on NS, though Ive seen 87T and 88T used. Here we see one of the 8859 trains crossing "baby Tunkhannock" more properly known as Martins Creek Viaduct south of Kingsley PA, with a pair of UP leaders.
