The car was Railroad Passenger Car, Inc. obs-buffet-lounge 3302 named Edward G. Hooper, ex-Baltimore Chapter NRHS 3302, exx-B&O 3302, exxx- B&O 80-seat coach 5234 built in 1923 by Pullman. Now in the collection of the B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore.

Description:  Chesapeake & Ohio Railway SD18 1809 at Pullman Junction on the south side of Chicago, Illinois on April 20, 1965, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built in January 1963 (c/n 27607) it was later renumbered to C&O 7309, later becoming INRD 7309, then IBCX 7309. This illustrates the C&O version, riding on Alco trimount trucks from RSD-5 trade-in's. C&O opted for the low-nose version. The fuel tank breathing apparatus is apparent behind the cab. It would appear this is a feature of late model SD9's, SD18's and SD24's.

This was a transfer run from AT&SF's Corwith Yard to Barr Yard. Also of interest is that this was shot on Kodachrome ASA 200 film. I only tried one roll of that speed, preferring the slower Kodachrome ASA 25 or 64 film.

The red warning light is lit, I'm not sure how it worked on the C&O, but on the CB&Q, the red warning light came on automatically with an emergency brake application. Sometimes hostlers would park a locomotive with an emergency brake application, to ensure that the locomotive didn't move, and to blow out the system.
