Album Info:Each year, members of the Michigan Shortlines Message Board hold two member meetings in Durand, Michigan in the Spring and fall. Our fall meet this year was on September 10, 2005. I was there from 10:00 AM to 7:30 PM. Here's what I saw during that time.

Description:  The Central Michigan's Durand Turn pulls around the High-Wye with an A-B-A set of classic General Electric diesels. B30-7AB #4065 is spliced between both of the last two remaining U-boats on the CMGN Roster.

Title:  GTW 4618 crosses Ann Arbor Street
Description:  This train was kind of a surprise. It was an Extra Yard job from Flint (I believe the symbol for this one was Y105, or something). It's assignment was to deliver some cars from Flint to the Durand Yard, and then run back to Flint. It is pictured here crossing Ann Arbor Street on the High-Wye, as it proceeds to the Holly Sub. Once again, I wasn't able to get to the crossing in time, so I had to do a zoom shot from the depot. Once it reached the Holly Sub, the 4618 pushed the train passed the depot, and deposited its cars in the Durand Yard.

Description:  4926 crosses Main Street as it back into the Durand Yard. Check out the horn on this unit... Also note the old mechanical crossing bell on the signal to the right. The signal on the other side of the crossing has a new electronic (door) bell. BAH!

Description:  This train had been waiting at Okemos for Amtrak, and the stack train, to come by. It finally got permission to proceed east onto Single track after waiting nearly 40 minutes. This was quite an impressive (and noisy) power set. They even had a CSX unit on the rear end. That's just plain wierd.

Description:  This came by while the Central Michigan Durand train was pulling in. I had to run like hell to get over here, but I made it just in time. This was an Empty Coal train from the Detroit Edison Power Plant at Holly, Michigan. It is pictured entering the Chicago Wye, as it leaves the Holly Sub to head west on the Flint Sub. LONG LIVE THE SANTA FE!!!

Description:  The light of the setting sun glints off the last cars of CP Rail Runthrough Train X535, as it rolls past Durand Union Station. This was the last train of the day, for me, and I went home shortly after this, ending another fun day at Durand. Thanks to Dave Lang and Patrick for setting this meet up. Title:  UP 4992 AGAIN!
Description:  After arriving in Flint, the 4992, and the Rent-a-wreck were apparently turned around to face west again. They had to wait until the ATSF powered Coal train had cleared before moving to the Holly Sub. I didn't make it down to the crossing in time to get a good shot, so this is all I have. Both units were running light, and we found out later that they went all the way to Detroit.
