Viewing Album:  Conrail in the Southern Tier-Susquehanna Division, Endicott to Gang Mills

Album Info:I lived in Endicott NY from 1988 through 2006, an interesting time to be a rail photographer on the former Erie Lackawanna. This album shows Conrail trains on the former EL Susquehanna Division from Endicott to Gang Mills, as well as some connected lines, such as the ex LV Ithaca Branch and Lehigh Line in nearby PA, and the ex NYC line from Corning to Wellsboro PA

Description:  Gray skies were far too common in the Tier. We went out to shoot trains anyway. Heres TV 202 rolling east wrong main-he's on the near track, note the semaphore on track 2 at far right is still showing clear-into Endicott with 175 platforms-thats almost 9300 feet of train, not unusual, sometimes those trains were longer than two miles-of containers

Almost dark

Description:  ML440 rolls east with 105 racks just as it was getting to dark for photos. CR 745 is one of a group of ex LMS units from a fleet shared with CN. CR did not renumber the units when it fully acquired them, hence the out of sequence numbers.

Description:  TV 202 rolls right under my spot on the NY 17C bridge. The new bridge has a chain link fence that can be worked around, but its not as good as the old bridge, which had no fence. It also had no shoulder....
