ATSF 5016
Title:  ATSF 5016
Description:  This is the very first railroad picture I ever shot. These units are idling in Santa Fe East Yard off Exposition Avenue in Dallas below I-30. This whole yard was purchased by DART and is now a light rail yard and shop. The ATSF line running east out of the yard has been ripped up and turned into a trail and the remaining tracks split between KCS and DGNO. Only if I had been a smarter 17 year old, I would have taken more photos.

SP 2524
Title:  SP 2524
Description:  Delivered to Southern Pacific as SW1500 2524 in July 1969, this switcher wore SP paint until retirement. Instead of meeting the scrapper's torch this switcher was picked up by Railserve first becoming RSSX 2524 then 5524 and getting a bright yellow dip job in the process. In this photo, 2524 is busy kicking cars in Miller Yard a little over two years before the end of Espee.

MKCX 9515
Title:  MKCX 9515
Description:  Delivered to Erie Lackawanna as SDP45 3664 in August 1970 this locomotive became Conrail 6695 until retirement becoming VMVX 6695, then MKCX 9515 remaining in Conrail Premier Blue. Although several members of the EL SDP45 fleet were rebuilt into SD40M-2s for Southern Pacific, I do not believe 9515 was one of the lucky ones.

SP 7370
Title:  SP 7370
Description:  Idling in Miller Yard between assignments with a recently repainted cabside number and sporting a replacement Rio Grande orange front plow. This SD40 was delivered to Southern Pacific as 8435 in March 1966, in May 1981 this EMD emerged as SD40R 7370 and kept this number until being retired by Union Pacific on July 25, 2000. I could not find any info on this unit after departing UP so most likely 7370 was scrapped after 34 years of service.

EMDX 7
Title:  EMDX 7
Description:  Power from an SP freight rolls to the service tracks for some attention. Even though this is an EMD GP60 demo unit, it is filthy! I only wish this cab had been more popular with railroads, unfortunetly nobody wanted to pay the extra money for this option. After this GP60's demonstration days were over, this locomotive first joined the Locomotive Leasing Partners roster as LLPX 6003 then became part of the CSX roster painted in YN3 paint assigned road number 6898. The SP light package has long ago been removed but the angular cab remains.

SP 7436
Title:  SP 7436
Description:  SP 7436 SD45R idles with an SW1500 at Miller Yard on an overcast autumn afternoon. Delivered to Southern Pacific as SP 8819 SD45 in August 1966, this big EMD would be rebuilt by SP shop forces at Sacramento and released as SP 7436 SD45R on May 27,1982. This unit would retain the same number until being retired by Union Pacific on June 30, 1999. I was unable to locate any information on the fate of this locomotive after it departed the UP roster so I assume it was scrapped.
